The Museum Society

Chatteris Museum Society is a group of people who are interested in the history of Chatteris and the surrounding Fens as well as nearby towns and villages. They meet one evening every other month at the museum.

During the colder months they usually have a guest speaker come along to give them a talk on a variety of relevant subjects, sometimes accompanied with a slide show.

During the warmer months the group likes to visit other Fenland museums or other places of historical interest.

Some of the places recently visited have been the Cromwell Museum in Huntingdon, The Octavia Hill Birthplace House at Wisbech, The Stretham Pumping Engine Museum, Wisbech Museum and Burwell Museum.

If you would like to join the museum society, please contact the museum curator, Jenny Furlong, either at the museum.

(click here for the contacts page).

There is an annual subscription for members of just £10 and, guests are also welcome to meetings at a cost of £2 a time.

Of course, when a meeting is held on the museum premises you and your guests will be free to browse through the museum exhibits and displays.
