Chatteris Museum Events - 2010

 

The museum periodically stages special events. These events are usually advertised in the Centrepoint newsletter published by the Chatteris Centre Association and look out for posters around the town!

Special Events

   From time to time we also have exhibitions of arts and crafts, so keep an eye out for these events.

There is normally one held for the period around the Chatteris Festival in June and in December in time for Christmas presents.

 

Chaucer's 'The Miller's Tale' - Saturday 26th June - 7pm for 7.30pm

This is Chatteris Historic Weekend and Dai Jenkins will be telling Chaucer's tale in the Marque at Furrowfields in Chatteris - Adults only.  Admissions £2 per head.  A Sausage Supper is available @£3 per head from 7.00pm

 

 

Childrens Activity Days

Tuesday 27th July - Activity Day - 2 Drop-In Sessions, 10.am - 12.noon and 1pm - 3pm

Animated Marsh Monsters

Make and move monsters from the marsh.  Animate these weird and wonderful creatures.  Listen to scary stories of bogies and bogarts.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Admission £1.50, adults free.

 

Wednesday 18th August - Activity Day - 10am - 12pm

Mythical Monsters and Magic of Marsh and Fen

Listen to stories of the Fens, tales of Tiddy Mun and of the Fen people.  Make a protecting spirit mask to keep.  Children to be accompanied by an adult, admission £1.50, adults free.  Must be booked Tel: 01553 773450.

 

 

Wednesday 18th August - Activity Day - 1pm - 3pm

The Curious World of the Butterbumps of the Bogs

Investigate the wildlife of the Fens before they were drained.  Learn about Devils Darning Needles and other wonderful wildlife.  Children to be accompanied by an adult, admission £1.50, adults free.  Must be booked Tel: 01553 773450.

 

Chatteris Museum Society

 

The Museum Society meet 6 times a year (bi-monthly).  Membership for the year is £10 per member; guests are welcome to any of our meetings/outings @ £2 per head plus any entry fee applicable on our outings.

 

Thursday July 22nd - Farmland Museum, Denny Abbey
The cost will be £6.00 per head, for entrance, tour, tea and cake

We will meet at 6.30 pm in Church Lane Car Park (opposite the Museum/Council Offices) to arrange car sharing, to leave by 6.45pm.
